To reduce conflict traffic flow and improve road safety, intelligence technology equipments (e.g., vehicle detectors, Changeable Message Sign (CMS), Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV), actuated signal control) were installed in 180-degree turning road on the District Road No. 107-1 in Wulai District, New Taipei City. If vehicle detectors are activated by a large vehicle, signal control system will have following processes: (1) activate signalized control to this road section; (2) give priority to this large vehicle by designating green light to its direction; and (3) assign red phase to another direction. This process can make sure large vehicle can go through the curvy road section smoothly, safely and efficiently.

Video surveillance systems are deployed at many public spaces for Urban security and surveillance purposes such as airports, train stations, and shopping malls. However, it is laborious to analysis and retrieval for specific persons in multiple camera surveillance systems, especially in the cluttered background and appearance variations among multiple cameras. In order to address the problem, this system presents an AI video analysis and retrieval method to extract the human attribute via deep-learning instance-segmentation technology. It uses attributes like clothes color and type to describe a person. The proposed system of person retrieval consists of four steps: (i) using deep-learning instance-segmentation technology to perform pixel-wise person segmentation; (ii) appearance-based attribute features with multi-CNN; (iii) search engine with fundamental attributes matching approach; and (iv) the video summarization technique to produce temporal abstraction of retrieval objects.

Over the years, manual inspections, satellite imagery and other techniques have been employed to determine exposed locations. However, due to factors such as gravel, light source, and resolution, image analysis cannot be used to accurately identify gravel or sand sources. Even if drone aerial photography is used, it still takes time to manually select and calculate sand sources. To quickly and effectively monitor potential river dust locations, the "AI Sand Source Identification System" was developed to establish a drone database for the automatic marking and positioning of sand sources and their respective areas. Moreover, in conjunction with the "River Dust AI Smart Protection Network", we can reduce the harm of river dust to the public and make response operations more intelligent.

New Taipei City is the country’s largest first-level administrative district and holds around 100 roads and pipelines to effectively maintain various daily needs. With this comes an average of 10,000 construction cases per year that are audited to maintain the normal supply of various underground pipeline resources. This eventually led to negative impact such as traffic, decreased road quality and the waste of resources. To provide citizens with a higher quality road that can simultaneously co-exist with the construction process within limited human resources and budget, the “Smart Road Management Center” was created. The project focused on 5 goals: streamline administration process, mobile governance, smart management, develop value-added applications, and transparent governance. Through virtualization, cloudification, and intelligence, it can grasp road construction in real time, observe maintenance status, and support road rescue decision-making, all which can improve the overall road maintenance effectiveness.
