Chun-Ting Chou

Dr. Chou is currently serving as the CEO of OmniEyes, and an associate professor at National Taiwan University (NTU), with 20 years of experience in wireless communications, IoT and edge computing. He holds more than 30 patents in IEEE and ECMA standards in wireless communication protocols. He is also the recipient of FAOS Young Excellent Oversea Scholar Award (2008), IoT Innovation Award of Pan-Wen-Yuan Foundation (2019), Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST) Startup Pioneer Award (2019), and NTU Academic Contribution Award (2020). Before joining National Taiwan University in 2008, Dr. Chou was a senior member research staff in Philips Research North America and has designed various medium access control (MAC) protocols. He received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 2004.

Born in UK and grew up in Melbourne and Tokyo, Togo started his career at Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) working on donor coordination and aid policies. Gradually, his interest shifted to environmental policies and climate change and spent over 8 years in Thailand and Cambodia as Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Project Formulation Adviser on Climate Change and Environment sector. The sector included Water Supply and Sanitation, Solid Waste, Environmental Management, Climate Finance and REDD+ project. After serving one year at Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) as Programme Manager for promoting SDGs at cities in ASEAN countries, Togo have assumed the position as the Executive Director of ICLEI Japan Office from 1 July 2018 where he is now responsible for running the office representing 26 members of leading cities and regions in Japan, accounting to approximately one third of Japanese population.

With his experience on project management and development of technical and financial projects for urban environmental infrastructure and climate change sector, he is now supporting cities and regions in Japan for its pursuit for sustainability.

Brock Lalla is a Sector Development Advisor at Invest Vancouver, a proponent of lifelong learning and actively maintains a voracious level of curiosity for the world around him. Relentlessly client-focused, he focuses on “getting it done” for clients and if he does not have the answer – he will find a way to do so.

Prior to joining Invest Vancouver, Brock was part of PwC Canada's National Economics and Policy practice for several years, acting as a Senior Economic Consultant & Project Manager. At PwC, Brock served as a key member of the team to facilitate and deliver a variety of public and private sector socio-economic impact studies which played a critical role in communicating the importance of key industries (such as aviation, high-tech, life sciences and digital media & entertainment) to broad stakeholder groups within British Columbia and beyond. It was also during his time at PwC that Brock developed a passion for client-facing work, building trust-founded relationships and a knack for story-telling in order to provide sound and practical solutions that act to solve real-world issues faced by clients.

Living and working in the beautiful city of Vancouver, his personal goal is to give back to the region by supporting regional economic development across key industries (with a focus on high-tech), fostering collaboration within industry ecosystems as well as working to communicate on a global scale the value Metro Vancouver has to offer to potential investors.

Brock holds degrees from some of Canada’s highest ranking Comprehensive Universities including a Master in Economics from Simon Fraser University and a Bachelor of Commerce in Management, Economics & Finance from the University of Guelph.
