2023 Smart City Expo × 2050 Net Zero City Expo
- Net Zero City and Industrial Competitiveness

More than 133 countries, 241 cities and 821 companies around the world have committed to net zero emission targets, covering 83% of global greenhouse gas emissions, 91% of gross domestic product, and 80% of the population. In view of the global net zero emissions trend and the introduction of a border adjustment mechanisms to curtail the risk of carbon leakage in the EU, U.S., Japan or other Taiwan's major trading partners. Net zero is no longer simply a matter of environmental sustainability. It is an economic challenge that concerns the development of smart cities in Taiwan and the international competitiveness of industries.
In the era of the international race to zero campaign, digital transformation and net-zero emissions will drive industrial smart manufacturing and promote the development of smart cities. It is hoped that through the joint efforts of the government, industry and the public, the net zero challenge can be transformed into a green business opportunity, driving the city's new economic power.
The 21st Century Foundation, in cooperation with the Taipei Computer Association, hold a forum on "Net Zero City and Industrial Competitiveness" on the morning of March 31, 2023. Mr. Kazuhiko Shiba, member of the board and managing executive officer, international business development, TEPCO Power Grid, Inc, is specially invited to share the net zero development of the future energy industry, how to cooperate with the public and private sectors, promote the development of new technologies and business models, and implement a sustainable environment. We also invite local government, industry, and academia to exchange knowledge, experiences, and best practices in an effort to promote net zero city and net zero industrial competitiveness. In addition, the forum will also launch the "Net Zero Industry Competitiveness Excellence Award" and "Friendly Net Zero Agriculture Competition," encouraging all enterprises and agricultural groups to adopt strategies such as energy efficiency improvement, low-carbon energy transformation, and circular economy introduction.
