Quantum technology is widely regarded as one of the “black technologies” with the potential to transform the future of humanity. In 2025, Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, introduced Quantum Day for the first time at the GTC Conference, underscoring the promising prospects of quantum computing and artificial intelligence.
Responding to the forefront of technological innovation, National Sun Yat-sen University hosted its first Quantum Forum during the 2025 Smart City Expo, bringing together Taiwanese scholars in quantum science, national research institutions, and startup companies for technical exchanges and industry–academia collaboration, which received enthusiastic feedback.
In 2026, the Quantum Forum will be held for the second time, featuring Taiwan’s most influential leaders in quantum technology, including:
Prof. Ching-Ray Chang, former Vice President of National Taiwan University and President of the Taiwan Association of Quantum Computing and Information Technology;
Prof. Chii-Dong Chen, Executive Director of the Thematic Center for Quantum Computer at Academia Sinica and Distinguished Research Fellow at the Institute of Physics, Academia Sinica;
Prof. Wen-Hao Chang, Executive Director of the Quantum Systems Promotion Task Force and Distinguished Research Fellow at the Research Center for Applied Sciences, Academia Sinica.
These speakers will present on topics such as global trends in quantum technology and Taiwan’s potential entry points, Academia Sinica’s in-house development of a 20-qubit superconducting quantum computer, and Taiwan’s recent progress in quantum sensing and photonic quantum technologies.
