Physicist Amory B. Lovins is co‑founder and chairman emeritus of Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI), an independent, nonpartisan nonprofit “think‑and‑do” tank that works globally to transform energy systems through market‑driven solutions for a clean, prosperous, zero‑carbon future, and he is a celebrated thought leader and author of numerous publications. In 2009, Time named him one of the world’s 100 most influential people; Foreign Policy listed him among the 100 top global thinkers; and a Stanford Scopus analysis placed him in the top 2% of world scientists.

Amory serves as a Stanford Sr. Precourt Scholar for Integrative Design and Energy Efficiency and Lecturer in Civil & Environmental Engineering, where he intentionally teaches outside his formal training to cultivate a beginner’s mind.
