With global awareness of achieving net-zero on the rise, the transformation of businesses to seize green opportunities has become a crucial key.
Taiwan, as an export-oriented economy, relies on industrial product exports, which account for over 50% of the national GDP. According to the Small and Medium Enterprise Administration's "2023 Small and Medium Enterprise White Paper," Taiwan had over 1.63 million small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in 2022, representing over 98% of all businesses. In a bid to bolster the low-carbon competitiveness of Taiwan's manufacturing sector, the Ministry of Economic Affairs has embraced a proactive strategy for net zero transformation. By encouraging leading enterprises to serve as role models and fostering collaboration in carbon reduction efforts across the industry's entire value chain, from upstream to downstream, Taiwan aims to cultivate a green supply chain and strengthen its position in net zero transformation. Hosting the "Net Zero Transformation Forum I" serves as a platform to disseminate international insights and perspectives, while also inviting exemplary carbon reduction companies to share their case studies. This initiative aims to deepen practitioners' understanding of the relevance of the net zero trend and expedite the transition of Taiwan's manufacturing industry towards sustainability, thereby igniting a new wave of economic growth.
