The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Taiwan (R.O.C.) have close bilateral business ties; on that basis, Taipei Computer Association (TCA), the largest ICT industries association in Taiwan holds “Development of Smart City in Taiwan Forum”. In the forum, TCA would like to introduce (1) an overview of smart cities in Taiwan (2) business opportunities, and (3) potential bilateral collaboration chances to key city planners, governmental institutions, and industrial players in The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Importantly, under Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, Riyadh city, Jeddah (King Abdullah Economic City), Al Qassim, Smart Yanbu Industrial City, or NEOM city are built. The constructive applications of AIoT, 5G, and ICT make the urban lives more complete. A survey found 66% of medium-to-large organizations believe in the critical roles of IoT in next five years, according to “Challenges and Applications of Internet of Things (IoT) in Saudi Arabia” (2021).

In Taiwan, we also see IoT applications as the building blocks of Smart Cities, especially when they contribute to fields of cloud computing, traffic flows monuments, all-electric vehicles, or water managements. Connecting with prospective partners and approaching them have been important for both countries; therefore, TCA wishes to promote further collaborative partnerships between governmental institutions and key industries in both Saudi Arabia and Taiwan (R.O.C.).
