Richard is a Research Manager in Wireless and Mobile at BT Labs. His work on 5G has a particular focus on creating an ecosystem for RAN virtualization, network automation, and the use of small cells. He is a technical representative for BT at many industry fora, including Next Generation Mobile Networks (NGMN), where he is Chair of the RAN Functional Split and X-Haul Group; Telecom Infra Project (TIP), where he is Co-Chair of the OpenRAN 5G NR – RAN Intelligence & Automation (RIA) project, and was co-chair of the now graduated vRAN Fronthaul project; O-RAN and Small Cell Forum (SCF).

He has an M.Eng. degree in electronic engineering from the University of York and the Ph.D. degree in electronic engineering from the University of Leeds. Since joining BT in 2009 he has worked in spectrum management, cognitive radio, small cells and next-generation technologies. He has been involved in EU projects, in particular QoSMOS, where he was a work package leader for the network architecture design. He was a Spectrum Manager for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and was part of BT’s bidding team for the U.K. 4G spectrum auction.

Ray serves as the R&D Director at Ufi Space and is responsible for Carrier grade 10G/25G/100G/400G switch/router product architecture planning & development. Prior to joining Ufi Space, Ray worked for Foxconn and has been involved in IDM & ODM switch product development & team management as well as product architecture planning for 10G/25G/100G switch.
Ray received his M. S. degree in electrical and control engineering from National Chiao Tung University.

Mr. Sammy Huang

Sammy Huang joined Arm in 2016 as a FAE and was responsible for products marketing and technical consulting with assisting partners to adopt the best Arm IP solution in different markets and applications.
Before joining Arm, Sammy worked at Mediatek for about 9 years and expatriated to Mediatek Sweden AB (Linköping) as a technical manager. He mainly focused in the area of wireless communication system, computer architecture and Digital Signal Processor (DSP). He led several SoC projects to mass-production successfully, including WiMAX, WiFi and 4G-LTE.
He has rich experience in digital IC design, from algorithm analysis, HW architecture plan, RTL coding and simulation, synthesis, FPGA verification to IC testing. The nearly four-years Nordic experience has allowed him to have global vision, creative thinking and teamwork spirit.
Sammy received his master’s degree in communication engineering at National Tsing Hua University.
