River Waste Survey Program – Start from River
There are many rivers in Taiwan but over 80% of river waste end up washed into the sea. River Waste Survey is a program co-launched by Fubon Life Insurance and The Society of Wilderness. The program promotes sustainable water supplies and safeguarding national health by training Fubon employees and members of the public to become citizen scientists. The Wu River in Taichung, Toucian River in Hsinchu, and Tamsui River were successfully surveyed over the past three years. The program will continue with the surveying of Houjin River in Kaohsiung and Beigang River in Yunlin as well this year. A report will be published using the survey data to promote public-private sector partnerships on waste removal to better protect river and marine environments.
