Acer ITS self-develop smart parking meter system provides vehicle detection, license plate recognition, auto-ticketing, multi-payment functions to achieve the goal of payment automation for roadside parking. It also provides instant parking space information so that drivers can see the parking availability through mobile APPs to avoid circling in the city that causing traffic jam and higher carbon emissions. It collects parking information through auto-ticketing system, and feeds in big data platform to produce accurate turnover rate and usage rate. These data are the base of policy making for parking authorities. Applications with automation, intellectualization and mobilization provide drivers with nice parking experiences, and enhance parking management performance for parking authorities. Let smart parking become new smart city indicator for satisfied people and high performance government.

This project is deployed in a large-scale fish farming area in southern Taiwan, where ponds are widely distributed and geographically fragmented, creating challenges for long-distance network connectivity and real-time surveillance. The solution utilizes fiber optic links as the backbone to ensure stable long-range transmission across the site. EAP610-Outdoor wireless access points are deployed to extend network coverage through a mesh architecture, effectively reducing the need for repetitive cabling. For surveillance, the system integrates an NVR4032H with InSight S345 and InSight S345ZI bullet cameras, delivering stable and reliable video transmission. Combined with PoE switches, this solution establishes a flexible, efficient, and reliable network and intelligent surveillance infrastructure tailored for aquaculture management.

Prof. Chia-Hsin Chen’s Team – An Innovative AI-Powered Tongue Vibration Training System This project develops an AI-driven tongue vibration training system for dysphagia and obstructive sleep apnea. It combines a safe, adjustable tongue device, AI motion tracking with real-time biofeedback, EEG-based cognitive monitoring, and AR-based gamified training to deliver personalized, engaging, and data-driven rehabilitation.

Prof. Ming-Yen Lin’s Team – A Prediction Model for Type 2 Diabetes Complications Our research group develops a decision-support prediction model for type 2 diabetes complications using data from over 163,000 Taiwanese patients. Integrating age, HbA1c, and other dynamic factors, the model estimates long-term risks of major complications and mortality, visualizes future trends, and supports personalized care planning to improve disease management and outcomes.

In order to achieve the goal of intelligent transportation in Hualien and alleviate the crowds and traffic problems brought about by the opening of the entire Suhuakai line and the traffic problems in the city center, the Hualien County Government has developed a design that conforms to the local characteristics and constructs intersection numbers through the "Development and Construction Design of Intelligent Transportation System". Using smart technology to make traffic policies more accurate. Extreme rainfall events have increased the frequency of flooding, creating an urgent need for timely and reliable monitoring of urban drainage systems. The Smart Water Monitoring solution deploys water-level sensors and communication devices within stormwater drainage networks to ensure continuous data transmission. Through a centralized platform with real-time visual indicators, authorities can quickly identify abnormal conditions. This solution strengthens urban disaster resilience, reduces manual inspections, and improves overall operational efficiency.

Criminal and street violence cases will affect and cause panic to citizens. In order to diminish street violence cases, reducing the time to solve these cases, protecting citizens’ lives and properties, and allow citizens to live without fear, the Kaohsiung City Police Department (KCPD) built the “3D Street Violence Early Warning, AI Intelligence Collection and Integration Platform” (hereinafter called “the Platform”). The platform utilizes the Internet of Things (IoT) to combine AI image recognition and sound sensing technologies for cross-domain big data analyses. KCPD established cross-platform data interfacing and integration, mainly through “data integration” and “network analyses” to collect with the municipal government’s transportation bureaus and social bureaus; and import existing data from the KCPD data platforms. The Platform will, through web service API, (a) retrieve data built by information systems, (b) conduct big data analysis, aggregate applicable intelligence data and present it in the form of dynamic information, (c) Integrate all information and display it as maps and topologies, improve case handling efficiency. According to KCPD employees’ query, they can adjust factor weights and relationships. Analyze the results based on rational mathematical models and professional case-handling concepts, so that intelligence analysis goes beyond the limitations of platform developers and allows criminal police to maximize their capabilities.
