This project integrates cable TV systems, Civil IoT, and AI video recognition technology to build smart disaster prevention and site safety services. Centered on set-top boxes (STB) and intelligent sensing, the solution focuses on bridging the gap in real-time information and safety protection for elderly and rural populations. Through its wired network infrastructure, the system developed under this project is capable of delivering real-time disaster prevention information, including earthquakes, typhoons, and heavy rainfall alerts. In addition, AI-based recognition capabilities have been integrated into the system. Currently, the system has completed event recognition functions such as parcel placement and retrieval detection. It also performs analysis of human movement trajectories and abnormal group behavior detection. In the future, the system will be further expanded to identify dangerous situations such as violent behavior. Through this project, Taiwan Optical Platform (TOP) demonstrates the potential of integrating cable television networks with AI and IoT technologies to develop a platform for smart disaster prevention and public safety applications.

Prof. Ming-Yen Lin’s Team – A Prediction Model for Type 2 Diabetes Complications Our research group develops a decision-support prediction model for type 2 diabetes complications using data from over 163,000 Taiwanese patients. Integrating age, HbA1c, and other dynamic factors, the model estimates long-term risks of major complications and mortality, visualizes future trends, and supports personalized care planning to improve disease management and outcomes.

In the evolving architecture of smart cities, AI-powered smart parking systems have transformed from standalone parking management tools into critical nodes within intelligent urban operations. By integrating AIoT sensing, image recognition, and cloud platforms, the system enables real-time parking occupancy monitoring, license plate recognition, and traffic flow prediction, enhancing traffic efficiency and optimizing road resource allocation. It connects people, vehicles, facilities, and payment processes into a unified ecosystem, streamlining circulation and improving user experience. By incorporating EV charging infrastructure, the platform supports green energy dispatch and low-carbon transformation. Acting as a data-driven hub, it interfaces with traffic signal systems and municipal platforms, forming a foundational infrastructure for cross-domain smart governance.

This service provides integrated solutions for drilling-related equipment, consumables, and materials, assisting clients in selecting and configuring resources according to project requirements to ensure material quality and engineering compatibility. Through a streamlined supply approach and project experience, procurement and operational risks are reduced, enhancing overall project execution efficiency. The service can be flexibly adjusted based on project scale and technical needs, supporting practical requirements from pre-drilling preparations through the execution phase.

During WirForce 2024, the largest LAN Party in Asia, the Omada business networking solution provided full network support for 1,400 BYOC players. Over four days, the network handled more than 6,000 wired devices and 800 wireless devices, with total data traffic exceeding 1,800TB, demonstrating exceptional performance and reliability. Through the Omada centralized cloud management platform, network administrators were able to monitor network status in real time, rapidly identify issues, and maintain high-speed, stable connectivity throughout the event. Key components included EAP773 Wi-Fi 7 access points, delivering BE11000 ultra-high-speed connections and seamless roaming, along with high-performance L2/L3 switches supporting 10G throughput and PoE power to ensure stable data transmission under extreme traffic loads. An OC300 hardware controller enabled real-time monitoring and flexible network management. By successfully addressing the challenges of ultra-high density and massive traffic demand, Omada and WirForce jointly delivered a premium esports networking experience.

To enhance facility management efficiency and visitor service quality in Nantou County’s scenic areas, the Nantou County Scenic Area Administration Office is implementing a Smart Management System. The system applies digital technologies to strengthen operations, safety management, and data-driven governance. It integrates maintenance and inspection records for key facilities such as trails and suspension bridges, establishing a centralized database. Through data analysis, authorities can monitor facility conditions, identify maintenance needs, and implement preventive maintenance strategies, reducing costs and improving operational stability. CCTV and smart sensors are gradually deployed in high-risk areas to enable real-time monitoring and anomaly alerts. During extreme events such as typhoons or earthquakes, managers can quickly assess infrastructure safety, improve emergency response efficiency, and reduce manual inspection workload. A QR Code-based smart reporting function allows visitors to instantly report facility issues. Reports are automatically recorded and assigned for follow-up, accelerating response time and enhancing visitor safety and service experience. Through smart management and data-driven decision-making, Nantou County is building a safer, more efficient, and sustainable scenic area management model, supporting smart tourism and long-term development.

There are increasing demand for self-service and remote-control devices.Besides safety reason, it is also easier for customers to purchase tickets and obtain travel information, plus the added benefits of time saving and convenience. MiTAC’s Smart ticketing solution for tourism was implemented at “Hạ Long Bay” in Vietnam. Passengers can use self-service devices, such as the Ticket Vending Machines, kiosks and POS to purchase tickets, place orders, arrange trips and inquire for additional information. The operators can also utilize automated devices and information system to reduce human resources investment, strengthen operational efficiency, and improve service quality. In addition, the operators can utilize the data collected for big data analysis for precision marketing in the future.

Nearly one-third of the population in Yunlin County are first-tier industrial workers, mainly agricultural planting and fishery breeding. Through the inventory of various key program modules of scientific and technological agriculture and through service and product design, the six-tier digital system has been completed. It has been effectively improving the first-tier Industrial productivity and filling the gap in production instability, and receiving a solution for the lack of labor and the approval of the National Development Council Plan. This will also make Yunlin a place where cases of digital transformation and creation blooming. This service is introduced into multiple towns and villages in Yunlin County and 350 jobs have been created and about 320 million production value have been increased.The project won the 2022 “Smart City Innovation Application Awards".

IISI has a number of solutions for smart image processing, the main application areas are smart transportation, smart disaster prevention, security monitoring, etc. The main products include iTrafficView and iSurveillance. iTrafficView is a server-based image recognition detection system that receive real-time video streaming from on-site network cameras and instantly performs image recognition and event detection to provide monitoring services immediately. Furthermore, the system records related identification and detection data for consecutive statistical and analysis procedure. The advanced hybrid DVR and intelligent management platform offers a one-stop solution to enhance both analog, digital, and IP convergence. "iSurveillance" is an intelligent Hybrid DVR that supports analog and IP cameras. It applies the ASF compression for efficient data management, flexible and compatible with various brands of surveillance devices.

The EUP Fleet Management System integrates ESG management, providing visualized reports and big data analysis to accelerate communication between the supply chain and transporters, ensuring effective ESG management and achieving carbon reduction goals. Through AI big data analysis, it automatically provides green ratings and compares carbon emissions with industry peers, enhancing market competitiveness and brand image.
