ITS traffic data collection has solved the laborious and time-consuming task of manually calculating traffic flow in the past. It aims to achieve the goals of smoother road conditions and reduced accidents through intelligent traffic diagnosis. By utilizing intelligent transportation systems, the system automatically tracks vehicles, identifies vehicle types, predicts trajectories, and transforms the data into useful information. This assists in real-time interpretation and improvement of traffic engineering. This system is particularly crucial in Taiwan, where over 60% of traffic accidents occur at intersections. Through big data analysis, identifying issues and formulating solutions is possible, thereby lowering accident risks. This approach proves more effective than simple advocacy and alerts.

Criminal and street violence cases will affect and cause panic to citizens. In order to diminish street violence cases, reducing the time to solve these cases, protecting citizens’ lives and properties, and allow citizens to live without fear, the Kaohsiung City Police Department (KCPD) built the “3D Street Violence Early Warning, AI Intelligence Collection and Integration Platform” (hereinafter called “the Platform”). The platform utilizes the Internet of Things (IoT) to combine AI image recognition and sound sensing technologies for cross-domain big data analyses. KCPD established cross-platform data interfacing and integration, mainly through “data integration” and “network analyses” to collect with the municipal government’s transportation bureaus and social bureaus; and import existing data from the KCPD data platforms. The Platform will, through web service API, (a) retrieve data built by information systems, (b) conduct big data analysis, aggregate applicable intelligence data and present it in the form of dynamic information, (c) Integrate all information and display it as maps and topologies, improve case handling efficiency. According to KCPD employees’ query, they can adjust factor weights and relationships. Analyze the results based on rational mathematical models and professional case-handling concepts, so that intelligence analysis goes beyond the limitations of platform developers and allows criminal police to maximize their capabilities.

This project integrates cable TV systems, Civil IoT, and AI video recognition technology to build smart disaster prevention and site safety services. Through its wired network infrastructure, the system developed under this project is capable of delivering real-time disaster prevention information, including earthquakes, typhoons, and heavy rainfall alerts. In addition, AI-based recognition capabilities have been integrated into the system. Currently, the system has completed event recognition functions such as parcel placement and retrieval detection. It also performs analysis of human movement trajectories and abnormal group behavior detection. In the future, the system will be further expanded to identify dangerous situations such as violent behavior. Through this project, Taiwan Optical Platform (TOP) demonstrates the potential of integrating cable television networks with AI and IoT technologies to develop a platform for smart disaster prevention and public safety applications.

Dr. Hung-Lung Lin’s Team – An Auxiliary Assessment System for Coronary Heart Disease Identification In response to population aging and the younger onset of coronary heart disease (CHD), this study develops an AI-based auxiliary CHD screening system integrated into a mobile app. Grounded in traditional Chinese medicine tongue–heart theory, the system analyzes sublingual vascular images using reflection removal, image segmentation, and a multi-head attention deep learning model. Users can obtain accurate, reproducible screening results and health recommendations within 7–20 seconds using only a smartphone, enabling convenient and cost-effective preliminary CHD assessment.
