In alignment with global sustainable tourism trends and Taiwan’s “2050 Net-Zero Emissions Pathway,” Nantou County launched the Nantou Sustainable Tourism Campaign (NSTC) in 2024 in partnership with National Chi Nan University. As the first local government in Taiwan to establish a comprehensive sustainable tourism framework, Nantou created NSTC as a platform for training, talent development, knowledge exchange, and strategic marketing to accelerate tourism transformation. NSTC is built on three core pillars. NSTC Talk enhances industry capacity through workshops, training programs, and forums. NSTC Criteria incorporates international sustainable tourism standards to develop localized evaluation guidelines and assess business sustainability maturity. NSTC Travel Guide promotes certified businesses and sustainable itineraries, encouraging responsible travel and green consumption. Through systematic carbon footprint assessments, Nantou has developed nine net-zero itineraries and twenty-three low-carbon routes, covering one- to three-day immersive experiences. These itineraries adopt the internationally recognized Gold Standard carbon offset mechanism to ensure measurable emission reduction. By integrating data-driven governance with green practices, NSTC positions Nantou as a leading model for sustainable tourism transformation and low-carbon regional development.

This project integrates cable TV systems, Civil IoT, and AI video recognition technology to build smart disaster prevention and site safety services. Centered on set-top boxes (STB) and intelligent sensing, the solution focuses on bridging the gap in real-time information and safety protection for elderly and rural populations. Through its wired network infrastructure, the system developed under this project is capable of delivering real-time disaster prevention information, including earthquakes, typhoons, and heavy rainfall alerts. In addition, AI-based recognition capabilities have been integrated into the system. Currently, the system has completed event recognition functions such as parcel placement and retrieval detection. It also performs analysis of human movement trajectories and abnormal group behavior detection. In the future, the system will be further expanded to identify dangerous situations such as violent behavior. Through this project, Taiwan Optical Platform (TOP) demonstrates the potential of integrating cable television networks with AI and IoT technologies to develop a platform for smart disaster prevention and public safety applications.

Dr. Hung-Lung Lin’s Team – An Auxiliary Assessment System for Coronary Heart Disease Identification In response to population aging and the younger onset of coronary heart disease (CHD), this study develops an AI-based auxiliary CHD screening system integrated into a mobile app. Grounded in traditional Chinese medicine tongue–heart theory, the system analyzes sublingual vascular images using reflection removal, image segmentation, and a multi-head attention deep learning model. Users can obtain accurate, reproducible screening results and health recommendations within 7–20 seconds using only a smartphone, enabling convenient and cost-effective preliminary CHD assessment.

A-MTK Expands Presence in TRA Stations 2025 Project Installation Scope: Zuoying, Neiwei, Museum of Fine Arts, Gushan, Sankuaicuo, Kaohsiung, Minzu, Science and Technology Museum, Zhengyi, and Fengshan Stations To enhance station security and management efficiency, ten TRA stations in Kaohsiung will be newly equipped with A-MTK IP cameras, expanding surveillance coverage and integrating with the access control system. The project achieves the following outcomes: Video Surveillance Deployment: Multi-point installation of A-MTK IP cameras inside and outside stations, providing real-time monitoring, event recording, and playback. Access Control + Video Integration: When an abnormal access event occurs (such as unauthorized card use or forced door opening), the system automatically pops up the corresponding camera feed and simultaneously sends an alarm notification to the management center. Centralized Monitoring Platform: The Kaohsiung control center can instantly oversee access control status and video feeds, achieving cross-station integrated management.
