Remote expert video collaboration solution uses AR smart glasses to transmit onsite situation to the remote technical experts with high-definition real-time video, and guide the on-site engineer to troubleshoot and repair the fault from the first-person view perspective and free their hands. This is not only improves maintenance efficiency, but also ensures safety. It also achieve the sharing and inheritance of expert resources and high cost of traveling on site. When encountering difficult situations, multiple technical experts can also be invited for consultation. Experts can provide real-time multi-party HD video guidance with the on-site engineer, whether on PC or smartphone, to jointly solve technical issues and reduce downtime losses.

In response to the rapid transition into a super-aged society, Nantou County faces significant challenges due to its vast geographic area and the uneven and insufficient distribution of medical resources. Many elderly residents and persons with disabilities experience difficulties in accessing prescription medications. In 2025, Nantou County launched the nation’s first “Home Medication Delivery Service System.” This innovative service allows elderly residents or their family members to apply and make appointments online. Licensed pharmacists then deliver medications directly to the patient’s home free of charge. By integrating technology with compassionate care, the program promotes medication equity and enhances medication safety for vulnerable populations. It also reduces the caregiving burden caused by long travel distances and limited transportation options. Through this initiative, Nantou County is committed to building an age-friendly city that ensures accessible, safe, and dignified healthcare services for all residents.

Prof. Ming-Yen Lin’s Team – A Prediction Model for Type 2 Diabetes Complications Our research group develops a decision-support prediction model for type 2 diabetes complications using data from over 163,000 Taiwanese patients. Integrating age, HbA1c, and other dynamic factors, the model estimates long-term risks of major complications and mortality, visualizes future trends, and supports personalized care planning to improve disease management and outcomes.

Join It Sustainable turns building façades into power-generating surfaces with a circular, eco-friendly painted PV coating—blending renewable energy with architecture and branding. The coating is anti-soiling, scratch-resistant, rain self-cleaning and designed to reduce glare, while keeping PV performance. Applicable to façades, balconies, carports, shading elements and signage to unlock more renewable area for retrofit and net-zero buildings. Taiwan’s first public demonstration of a color-painted PV façade: showcased at the Architecture and Building Research Institute (ABRI,MOI), Ministry of the Interior. Phase I & II results prove façade PV can be safely and stably deployed on existing public buildings—turning decorative cladding into a consistent, power-generating building envelope.

Prof. Ming-Chung Chou’s Team – Intelligent X-ray Imaging System Traditional X-ray imaging depends on experienced radiographers to balance image quality and radiation dose. Automatic exposure control may misjudge patients with poor positioning or metallic implants, increasing radiation by about 20%. This study develops an AI-based X-ray imaging system with non-contact body thickness measurement. By integrating patient height and weight, the system automatically determines optimal exposure parameters, ensuring stable image quality while reducing unnecessary radiation and cancer risk.

Smart Chiller control system integrated“Chiller”,“ECM Air Handling Unit”,“Direct Drive PM Cooling Tower”,“Variable Flow chilled Water Pump”and other equipment in satisfy operation and monitor power consumption in optimal power contract capacity. Different from traditional air conditioning system which would suspend operation upon occurrence of abnormality, TECO's system boasts active management "optimal energy conservation manage ment mode," capable of active alarming and adjustment, rather than response after occurrence of problem, thereby attaining the dual missions of "system energy conservation" and "automatic diagnosis."

Prof. Chia-Hsin Chen’s Team – An Innovative AI-Powered Tongue Vibration Training System This project develops an AI-driven tongue vibration training system for dysphagia and obstructive sleep apnea. It combines a safe, adjustable tongue device, AI motion tracking with real-time biofeedback, EEG-based cognitive monitoring, and AR-based gamified training to deliver personalized, engaging, and data-driven rehabilitation.

• Features: With integrated AI-based image recognition, ultra-wideband (UWB) wireless positioning systems, warehouse management systems, and cloud platform services, the solution features automatically, real-time, and intelligent benefits to assist enterprises to achieve smart logistics and digital transformation with the enhancement of management efficiency and energy sustainability. • Functions: The solution includes AI-based image storage location identification, dynamic vehicle dispatching, automatic route planning, and display of available storage space. • Benefits: Higher management efficiency: Increases the inventory management efficiency by reducing the warehouse order pick up time by 12% on average. Traffic approach warning system is the combination of smart detectors and LED warning signs. The intersection is divided into detection lanes and warning lanes. Smart detectors are installed on the detection lanes. When a vehicle enters the detection area, the signal is transmitted to activate the LED signs on the warning lane to warn drivers to slow down in advance.
