Prof. Ming-Yen Lin’s Team – A Prediction Model for Type 2 Diabetes Complications Our research group develops a decision-support prediction model for type 2 diabetes complications using data from over 163,000 Taiwanese patients. Integrating age, HbA1c, and other dynamic factors, the model estimates long-term risks of major complications and mortality, visualizes future trends, and supports personalized care planning to improve disease management and outcomes.

In order to achieve the goal of intelligent transportation in Hualien and alleviate the crowds and traffic problems brought about by the opening of the entire Suhuakai line and the traffic problems in the city center, the Hualien County Government has developed a design that conforms to the local characteristics and constructs intersection numbers through the "Development and Construction Design of Intelligent Transportation System". Using smart technology to make traffic policies more accurate. Entrusted "Chunghwa Telecom Co., Ltd." to stage software and hardware in the "2018 Hualien Intelligent Traffic Integration Management System Construction Plan in Response to Su Hua Changing Vehicles", "2019 Hualien County Smart Traffic Management System Expansion Plan", The "109-Year Hualien County Smart Parking and Guidance System Construction Plan", "110-Year Hualien County Smart Road Network Management Integration and Traffic Corridor Improvement Plan" and other projects have been completed successively. There are five functions for overall optimization and refinement: "Cloud Smart Traffic Control", "Restructuring Time Signs", "Traffic Big Data Value-Added Application", "Signal History", and "Smart Parking"

This project integrates cable TV systems, Civil IoT, and AI video recognition technology to build smart disaster prevention and site safety services. Centered on set-top boxes (STB) and intelligent sensing, the solution focuses on bridging the gap in real-time information and safety protection for elderly and rural populations. Through its wired network infrastructure, the system developed under this project is capable of delivering real-time disaster prevention information, including earthquakes, typhoons, and heavy rainfall alerts. In addition, AI-based recognition capabilities have been integrated into the system. Currently, the system has completed event recognition functions such as parcel placement and retrieval detection. It also performs analysis of human movement trajectories and abnormal group behavior detection. In the future, the system will be further expanded to identify dangerous situations such as violent behavior. Through this project, Taiwan Optical Platform (TOP) demonstrates the potential of integrating cable television networks with AI and IoT technologies to develop a platform for smart disaster prevention and public safety applications.

During WirForce 2024, the largest LAN Party in Asia, the Omada business networking solution provided full network support for 1,400 BYOC players. Over four days, the network handled more than 6,000 wired devices and 800 wireless devices, with total data traffic exceeding 1,800TB, demonstrating exceptional performance and reliability. Through the Omada centralized cloud management platform, network administrators were able to monitor network status in real time, rapidly identify issues, and maintain high-speed, stable connectivity throughout the event.
