In the public building sector, FET is developing integrated solutions for “Net-Zero and Disaster-Resilient Energy Storage.” Combining net-zero strategies with Energy Management Systems (EMS), FET deploys renewable energy, energy storage, and smart energy-saving mechanisms. This approach balances carbon reduction with power resilience, supporting the public sector in enhancing sustainability and disaster preparedness. A key achievement is the National Taiwan Ocean University (NTOU) Gymnasium project, where FET implemented an advanced energy management platform integrating power monitoring, smart HVAC control, and renewable energy with storage systems. Dr. Hung-Lung Lin’s Team – An Auxiliary Assessment System for Coronary Heart Disease Identification In response to population aging and the younger onset of coronary heart disease (CHD), this study develops an AI-based auxiliary CHD screening system integrated into a mobile app. Grounded in traditional Chinese medicine tongue–heart theory, the system analyzes sublingual vascular images using reflection removal, image segmentation, and a multi-head attention deep learning model. Users can obtain accurate, reproducible screening results and health recommendations within 7–20 seconds using only a smartphone, enabling convenient and cost-effective preliminary CHD assessment.

This service utilizes Measurement While Drilling (MWD) technology to collect critical subsurface information in real time during the drilling process, helping to monitor formation conditions and ensure construction safety. By providing immediate feedback from measurement data, drilling parameters and operational strategies can be dynamically adjusted, reducing unforeseen risks and improving drilling stability. The MWD data also serves as an essential basis for subsequent analysis and engineering decisions, enhancing overall decision-making quality and operational efficiency in drilling operations.

Join It Sustainable turns building façades into power-generating surfaces with a circular, eco-friendly painted PV coating—blending renewable energy with architecture and branding. The coating is anti-soiling, scratch-resistant, rain self-cleaning and designed to reduce glare, while keeping PV performance. Applicable to façades, balconies, carports, shading elements and signage to unlock more renewable area for retrofit and net-zero buildings. Taiwan’s first public demonstration of a color-painted PV façade: showcased at the Architecture and Building Research Institute (ABRI,MOI), Ministry of the Interior. Phase I & II results prove façade PV can be safely and stably deployed on existing public buildings—turning decorative cladding into a consistent, power-generating building envelope.

This project integrates cable TV systems, Civil IoT, and AI video recognition technology to build smart disaster prevention and site safety services. Centered on set-top boxes (STB) and intelligent sensing, the solution focuses on bridging the gap in real-time information and safety protection for elderly and rural populations. Through its wired network infrastructure, the system developed under this project is capable of delivering real-time disaster prevention information, including earthquakes, typhoons, and heavy rainfall alerts. In addition, AI-based recognition capabilities have been integrated into the system. Currently, the system has completed event recognition functions such as parcel placement and retrieval detection. It also performs analysis of human movement trajectories and abnormal group behavior detection. In the future, the system will be further expanded to identify dangerous situations such as violent behavior. Through this project, Taiwan Optical Platform (TOP) demonstrates the potential of integrating cable television networks with AI and IoT technologies to develop a platform for smart disaster prevention and public safety applications.
